Good news

The test results have come back from the lab and it turns out both Lomela and Kata are fine. Kata has a minor protein deficiency, but this should improve as she drinks more milk and eats more food like eggs.
I tried to get a photo of Lomela and Kata in their sleeping closure like some of you asked me too, but what with the flash and the grill I just couldn’t do it. But I took this one for you instead.
They are good little buddies, although most of the time they look like this
Because they just love eating. Especially Lomela. Mama Henriette likes to sing ‘Lomela, mange, peepee, caca’ , which means ‘eat, pee, and poop’, because that’s basically all she does. But if you look down the blog on what she used to look like, you can see how far she’s come. Her chest has filled out, her arms have a little bit of muscles, and today i saw the tiniest coat of short, fine hair. She is going to be the most beautiful bonobo in no time.
Besides the food, what she needs, of course, is a lot of love. All the mamas here are going to make sure she gets it.

Yay! does this mean they’ll join the other babies in the nursery? That should be good for both of them. Great pictures. They are gorgeous girls.

Vanessa — thank you, thank you, thank you — I can barely go a day without hearing about Lomela, and now Kata too. It is so wonderful that most of their major health issues seem to be a thing of the past. Hopefully, with the care of Crispin, your diligence and good humor, and of course the apparently never-ending love the ‘mamas” have to give, their emotional health will be well healed in no time as well.
p.s. thanks for trying to get hte pics of them sleeping, but the ones you sent is just as wonderful!

That is the most wonderful news I’ve heard in a long time. They are both absolutely darling. Good news. I just heard that Lola Ya Bonobo will be one of the charities competing on SearchKindly in the second part of October so …everyone please VOTE when they come on the board!!

Lomela has touched a lot of hearts on this blog and I think of her as sort of a bonobo mascot–I hope she brings much attention to saving these wonderful and so unique creatures!

I mean, those two could not be anymore precious! It just brings me to tears to see them so sweet together. I love the picture of them hugging for sure. The picture of them eating together could not be cuter also. Thank you for sharing the funny stories about little Lomela. Oh, I just compared pictures of when Lomela first got there…there really is a huge difference…you can’t see her little rib cage and she looks happy, not so desperately sad and lonely!!! Geez, I am sitting in my office trying not to cry!

Can someone from Y.L.B. tell me what the official “name” of the charity is in the USA that is recognized by the IRS in the USA. The people at SearchKindkly contacted me because they are confused about this and need to clarify the info for tax purposes before the next runoff. I’ll get back to them as soon as you can tell me. They were under the impression it might not be Friends of Bonobos.

Lomela looks great. It’s so good to see her filling out and that her spirits are up. She and Kata look to be having a ball. Thanks YLB, for the updates. FYI-It looks like me missed out on the October runoff for SearchKindly.
I have been trying to clarify that LYB is registered with the IRS. Once we have this piece of info, I will contact SK and nominate LYB for November. I’ll keep you posted.
