Lukuru’s vet check

These pics are from Colleen Moritz who visited the sanctuary recently. They’re of little Lukuru getting her vet check. You can see how frail she is, and scared in the first picture. But she’s in good hands. Crispin, the vet has seen worse, and hopefully soon she’ll be on her way to recovery!

New arrivals - Lukuru & Masisi

Two new orphans have just arrived. Lukuru arrived on May 10. She was given up by the Congolese - which hopefully means our education programs are working. She is tiny! She has a terrible cold, fever, and worms. Most of her hair has fallen out due to malnutrition, but with the help of the vet staff we hope she will get better soon.
Here she is with our nurse Clemence . She has the most beautiful brown eyes and is very affectionate.

Masisi arrived the day after Lukuru in a similar state. We think he is around three years old.He is very frightened of everything and everyone, and is especially clingy with Anne Marie.
He is severely malnourished and has the skinniest little arms under all that hair.
There is a third bonobo we are trying to rescue from the military. Claudine is in the middle of organising a confiscation.
