Hope I filled this out correctly.I have a question.I notice in some pictures it looks like some of the little ones are wearing a diaper and in others it doesn’t.Do the Bonobos let the mamas’ know when they need to use the washroom after they are adjusted and trust them,or do they just go to the toilet whenever ‘Nature-calls’,so to speak? Also as they get older are they very clean e.g.Don’t use the toilet where they sleep,or do they just “go”whenever?

Hey george, baby bonobos aren’t toilet trained because they aren’t with the mamas very long. in a year or two they go into the forest wiht the big guys and then they can just pee and poop wherever.
But they are surprisingly clean. they swim sometimes in lake. usually they pee when they wake u in the morning - just like me.

Vanessa, is there a history about why Bonobo’s like water but almost all chimps don’t go in water?

I just learned that Vanessa has returned to NC and is no longer at Lola.
