call for television ideas!

Category: Uncategorized | Date: Jan 08 2009 | By: lolayabonobo

hey everyone, you never know who’s out there, so i’m doing a shout out to see if anyone has any television contacts. Lola is releasing a group of bonobos this summer, and they are trying to find a production company to film it - does anyone have any ideas? National Geographic said no already….

NatGeo said ‘no’? Hmph. Try Animal Planet. Contact Anderson Cooper at CNN … It might be very difficult for you to get an camera crew in a remote part of Congo because of the economic situation. CNN fired their entire Science reporting crew, so I guess no more science news from them.

Also, you might write to Stephanie McCrummen at the Washington Post. She visited the mountain gorillas before the July 2007 massacre and she’s in Africa. Here’s her contact page: http://projects.washingtonpost.com/staff/email/stephanie+mccrummen/

You can also pitch a story to NPR on this page: http://www.npr.org/about/pitch/ They’ve got a reporter in Nairobi, Gwen Tompkins.

My original comment was booted because of too many links. Here it is in two parts:

are they looking for crew to just film it or is the idea to film AND agreement to broadcast it?
meaning- if just to film - then sell the rights to broadcast - or a package deal?
